Deutsche Telekom Chooses Mavenir as Partner for Open RAN Deployment

Mavenir and Deutsche Telekom today announced that Mavenir has been selected for the Open RAN deployment across one of Deutsche Telekom’s European footprints. Mavenir is the Network Software Provider inventing the future of networks with cloud-native solutions that run on any cloud. For open Fronthaul, Mavenir will supply both its OpenBeam massive MIMO radios and third-party O-RAN-based Radio Units (O-RU). For such deployment, Mavenir will also serve as an end-to-end system integrator.

“Deutsche Telekom is aggressively advancing network disaggregation based on multi-vendor Open RAN architecture to enable customer-focused innovation in the RAN,” stated Abdu Mudesir, Chief Technical Officer at Deutsche Telekom. To hasten Open RAN development and pave the way for large-scale deployment, we will keep working with Mavenir.

The completely containerized microservices that form the foundation of Mavenir’s Open cloud-native RAN solution make it simple to deploy on any cloud infrastructure. The Open RAN-compliant solution from Mavenir further divides the RAN architecture into Distributed Units (DU) and Centralized Units, and it operates on open interfaces (CU). The Open RAN solution is the best option for a vendor-agnostic and future-proof Radio network architectural plan since these containerized network functions are operating on Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) hardware and are intended to handle several Fronthaul splits simultaneously.

“Mavenir’s market-leading cloud-native Open RAN product presents the way forward to introduce automation and intelligence to radio networks, in order to deliver on the use cases and manage complexity and data demands of future network elasticity, flexibility, and best-in-class automation and quality,” said Pardeep Kohli, President and CEO of Mavenir. We are excited to actively participate in implementing radio network automation and promoting openness in the RAN since the Mavenir OpenBeam radio portfolio perfectly complements Deutsche Telekom’s spectrum and RAN needs.

During Mobile World Congress 2023 in Barcelona, Spain, Mavenir will have a booth at the Fira Gran Via in Hall 2, stand 2H60.
