Openstream.ai, the leading provider of Conversational AI and Virtual Assistant solutions, today announced that the US Patent Office has granted Openstream.ai a patent for its unique approach to multimodality. Patent US20220114463A1 entitled “System and Method for Multi-modality Soft-agent for Query Population and Information Mining”. The patent describes how human queries, routed via virtual agent dialog, can access data sources and applications to provide users with more efficient and effective ways to interact with them, regardless of input modalities.

“We are pleased that the US Patent Office recognized the uniqueness of our approach and granted this patent,” said Magnus Revang, Openstream’s chief product officer. “The release of GPT-4 has raised market awareness of the importance of multimodality for Conversational and Generational AI.” Revang continues, “Organizations that require enterprise-class Conversational AI require multimodality to deliver the highest possible fidelity for the to provide transmission and interpretation of interactions between virtual agents and humans.”

Multimodality is critical for companies looking to deploy AI-based conversational solutions because natural conversations happen across all sensory modalities, not just text, and companies need to combine signals from different modalities to generate the types of inferences or insights they need. Since its inception, Openstream.ai has been a market leader in multimodality. It is at the core of the DNA of Openstream.ai’s Eva™ conversational AI platform, a solution that leading companies around the world are heavily adopting. Today’s patent announcement is the company’s latest milestone in this endeavor.

“As companies flood the enterprise-class conversational AI arena, Openstream prides itself on continually differentiating itself by leveraging the strengths of its intellectual capital,” said Rama Eyunni, vice chairman of Openstream.ai. “Our customers have come to expect our enterprise-class conversational AI platform, Eva™, to consistently deliver best-in-class multimodal capabilities thanks to our extensive roster of world-renowned experts and IP portfolio.”
