Google Introduces AI Mode Search in India: Smarter, Conversational, and More Helpful
Share On LinkedinShare on TwitterShare on Telegram

Google has introduced its much-awaited AI Mode Search in India. By deploying AI, this intelligent, conversational version of Google Search delivers precise, readily understandable responses. Forged on Google’s advanced Gemini 2 and Gemini 2.5 models, AI Mode lets users pose follow-up queries, search with images or voice, view visual charts, and access numerous other features. It provides a fresh avenue for delving deep into subjects—completely in simple English and Hindi.

1. Born from Blue Links, the product has grown into AI Conversations.

For many years, ten “blue links” greeted you whenever you performed a Google search. You entered a query, and Google presented you with a menu of sites to investigate. However, in May 2023 at Google I/O, everything took a shift: Google revealed the Search Generative Experience (SGE) within Search Labs. By leveraging AI, the tool produced compact headlines termed AI Overviews.

In May 2024, Google rolled out AI Overviews in the U.S. and then subsequently rolled them out to nations such as India, the UK, Japan, and Brazil. Though these summaries let users quickly grasp a topic, they still appeared under the conventional search results.

2. What is AI Mode Search?

Today, at Google I/O 2025, Google launched AI Mode—an enhanced version of the AI Overviews. So, what does it deliver? Conversational interface

  • Conversational Interface
Users are able to pose follow-up questions just as they would in a conversation. Say you search for “air pollution in Mumbai,” and follow up with “What measures is the government taking?” and you’ll receive a clearer reply.
  • Deep Search
Artificial intelligence dissects your intricate questions into smaller units, consults numerous resources, and assembles an exhaustive reply.
  • Multimodal Inputs
Submit any image—such as a photograph of a plant or a mathematical equation—and AI Mode will spell out what it is or resolve the problem.
  • Live, Agentic Features
From conveniently scheduling appointments and verifying flight availability to pulling up product details, you can do it all using Google AI Mode.
  • Built-in Charts & Context
Should you opt to grant access; AI Mode will craft shortcuts—Diagrams such as “COVID 19 cases over time”—and tailor responses to your Gmail and Calendar accounts.

3. What Makes AI Mode Important for Indian Users

  1. A growing number of lives will benefit from AI.

Every day, a large number of Indians rely on Google Lens and voice search functionality. The AI Mode simplifies search for people who opt to speak aloud or display images instead of typing.

  1. AI Mode supports Hindi along with Hinglish.

Google has customized the experience to serve bilingual users. You can alternately use English and Hindi, adding Hinglish (a hybrid of the two) as an extra option. It likewise delivers voice summaries—an excellent choice for listeners.

  1. Improved learning and research for Students

Picture yourself working on a school project. AI Mode can fast-track you with brief summaries, images, and even data charts, all in one place. It likewise leads you through in a sequence of guided questions.

4. The Way It Works and Where to Locate It

  1. Google Search Labs
Indian users may register for Google Search Labs and then look out for the AI Mode tab. Once enabled, the tab shows up next to choices such as “All,” “Images,” and “News.” Once you press it, the AI interface lands right before you.
  2. Availability
The feature has begun its rollout to all users in India (and in the United States as well). At first, the feature was only available in English, but Hindi support is coming soon, accompanied by greater functional richness.
  3. Multimodal Access
Within AI Mode, you can enter questions, ask them to Google, or frame them as a camera prompts—all under one roof. In practice, aim your smartphone camera at a math problem and tell AI, “Could you explain this problem?”

5. Benefits for Young Learners

  1. Interactive Learning
Using AI Mode is like having a conversation with a teacher. Inquisitive learners can pose this question: “How is the sky blue?” And take part in a science conversation.
  2. Photo-Based Help
Have trouble interpreting a plant or diagram? Snap a photo, and AI Mode will then describe and elucidate it.
  3. Faster Projects
Planning a school excursion on live details—weather, tickets, must-see sites—can all be done with a single search.
  4. Language Confidence
Students in Class 8 can choose to pose their questions in English or Hindi and still obtain reliable answers.

6. Real‑Life Examples

  1. Science Homework
    You: “How is photosynthesis defined?”
AI Mode: Besides providing straightforward explanations and graphic visuals, it prompts questions such as “Why do leaves change color in autumn?”
  2. Local Business Information
You: “Let’s locate a great pizza place in Pune.”
AI Mode displays locations, ratings, operating hours, menu pictures, and even allows you to inquire: “Which one is open now?”
  3. Math Help
Stake a picture of a math sum with your phone’s camera, and AI Mode will sort out the answer and show every step.
  4. Charts & Data
Ask, “What has been the rainfall in Mumbai this year?” and you’ll be shown a chart with an explanation to go with it.

7. Privacy, Advertising & Responsibility

  1. Privacy Controls
Only with your consent will AI Mode be able to draw on Gmail or Calendar. Representing the company, a spokesperson has noted, “We honor user privacy and curb the use of personal data.”
  2. Advertisements also surface.
Much in the same way as previously seen in AI Overviews, ads have begun to show up in AI Mode, directing users to pertinent products or services.
  3. Fact Checking Is Still Essential
Google incorporates citations and links to let you confirm the information, sparing you errors like AI Overviews once mistakenly identifying Obama as Muslim.

8. As the Tech Experts Explain

  1. Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google and Alphabet, called it one of the most successful Search launches in the past decade, pointing out that AI Overviews are already used by more than 1.5 billion users—representing a roughly 10 % increase in query activity.
  2. Liz Reid, Search’s head, underscored that AI Mode represents a profound reinvention of the platform, moving from straightforward links to intelligent, conversational interactions.

9. What’s Next?

  1. Wider Rollout
Google intends to release AI Mode to users around the globe over the coming months.
  2. New features impending.
Soon, Google will roll out additional live functionalities (such as ticket booking), further streamline its Gmail and Calendar
  3. Continuous Improvement
To make AI more intelligent and secure, Google will collect feedback—yes, even from Indian students.

Google’s AI Mode Search takes a major leap ahead, transforming search into a personal, go-to guide rather than a simple instrument. For Indian students and users at large, it is straightforward, remarkably intelligent, and brimming with learning potential.
