The University of Florida College of Dentistry today announced its collaboration with Overjet to empower the next generation of dentists with artificial intelligence to improve clinical decision-making and patient communication.

The Overjet Dental AI Education Program includes an introductory AI lecture series and the Overjet AI Teaching Clinic, a hands-on learning environment where dental students can improve their diagnostic and case presentation skills.

Overjet is the industry leader in dental AI with its breakthrough FDA-cleared technology for detecting cavities and quantifying bone level measurements on dental X-rays. AI-powered analysis and annotation create an accurate diagnostic tool, transforming traditional grayscale X-rays by adding colour, quantification and clarity.

“Our goal is to equip future dentists with the technology and knowledge they need to best serve the community and promote optimal oral health, and this gift from Overjet will help achieve that goal,” said A. Isabel Garcia, D.D.S., M.P.H., the Dean of the UF College of Dentistry.

“This partnership gives students access to AI-enabled technology designed to help them make accurate and confident diagnoses, improve their clinical skills, and increase their ability to communicate their findings effectively to patients,” said Teresa Dolan, D.D.S., M.P.H., the Chief Dental Officer at Overjet and Professor Emeritus and Dean of the UF College of Dentistry.

“Artificial intelligence is revolutionizing healthcare, and its application to radiological interpretation and dental education is just beginning,” said Anita Gohel, B.D.S., Ph.D., chair of the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Diagnostic Sciences at the UF College of Dentistry and A past President of the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Radiology. “We are proud to be at the forefront of dental education and have real-time access to new breakthroughs in dental AI through the Overjet Teaching Clinic and Lecture Series.”

The University of Florida is making artificial intelligence at the core of an initiative to drive innovation across the curriculum, make UF a national leader in AI, and play a critical role in transforming Florida’s economy into a diversified, technology-driven, cutting-edge economy . payroll.
