FreeWire Technologies acquires over Mobilyze.ai

FreeWire Technologies, the leading provider of battery-integrated electric vehicle (EV) charging stations and energy management solutions, has acquired Mobilyze.ai, a platform that uses artificial intelligence to help website hosts strategically place fast charging stations to maximize their return on investment. Mobilyze.ai’s EV charging analytics and prediction platform adds powerful capabilities to FreeWire’s service offerings to help site hosts make data-driven charging station deployment decisions. The Mobilyze.ai integration will provide FreeWire customers with more resources to meet their business goals and support the rapid expansion of charging infrastructure worldwide.

By 2030, the US will need over 180,000 public fast charging stations to support 26 million electric vehicles on the road. Today there is a gap between EV sales and the infrastructure required to do so, and this gap is expected to widen over time. Site hosts strive to meet infrastructure needs, but in many cases do not have the resources to know where to place ultra-fast chargers to maximize usage and achieve the required return on investment. With the Mobilyze.ai integration, FreeWire customers receive data-driven recommendations on charger placement to meet their business goals.

“This acquisition gives FreeWire customers an important tool in their infrastructure placement decision-making process, which ultimately has a major impact on their ROI,” said Nate Rosenbloom, FreeWire’s senior director of product management. “FreeWire and the Mobilyze.ai team share a common vision to facilitate the fast and efficient deployment of Boost chargers, and we’re proud to make them a part of the FreeWire team.”

As part of the acquisition, Mobilyze.ai founders David Keith and James Long will join FreeWire’s product management team. Keith and Long have worked with Urban-X, Mini, Toyota, BGE and NYSERDA to advise on the deployment of EV charging stations to date. Their expertise comes from MIT and the automotive industry, where they saw the need for site analysis in charging infrastructure.

“Today, it is extremely difficult to determine optimal locations for public electric vehicle charging stations to ensure profitability,” said David Keith, co-founder of Mobilyze.ai. “The addition of Mobilyze.ai to FreeWire’s service offerings will make it easier for website hosts to predict website usage in this rapidly changing transportation market and will provide confidence that they are meeting customer demand.”
