Yugabyte, the top open-source distributed SQL database provider, has struck a strategic partnership agreement with SRA OSS, LLC, the leading Japanese PostgreSQL professional consulting firm.
Yugabyte and SRA OSS will collaborate to accelerate the adoption of cloud-native transactional database technology for business database modernization projects in Japan.
SRA OSS has extensive knowledge of PostgreSQL database implementation and modernization. The partnership between Yugabyte and SRA OSS was fueled by an emerging market opportunity to share YugabyteDB’s enterprise-grade relational database capabilities and horizontal scalability and cloud-native resilience, as well as the demand and ambition of SRA OSS to assist businesses in fully capitalizing on database migration from legacy databases.
Both businesses believe that the Japanese market for cloud-native databases is expanding. They acknowledge that the insufficiency of monolithic databases to manage scalability and availability for systems of interaction and systems of record is impeding business digital transformation efforts.
The corporations are also aware that SaaS providers are seeking horizontally scalable and multitenant relational databases as their businesses expand.

YugabyteDB is a logical supplement to SRA OSS’s current technologies and services, as they are well-aligned with the requirements of the region’s largest and most demanding transaction-driven enterprises seeking to expedite database modernization efforts.
One of the objectives of Yugabyte for 2023 is to develop further into significant new geographic regions, hence fueling the company’s growth in Japan. In October 2021, Yugabyte concluded a Series C investment round for $188 million, valuing the company at more than $1.3 billion.
Yugabyte began its Japan company in October 2021 and has since accelerated its expansion in the area. The company’s approach to the market involves the selection of complementary strategic partners in the region.
