Eyeris uses OMNIVISION’s dedicated NPU with 2 TOPS to provide powerful monocular 3D monitoring features, automotive design freedom, and an integrated RGB-IR ISP in a tiny device with low power use.
Eyeris Technologies, Inc., a global leader for automotive in-cabin sensing AI and sensor fusion solutions, today announced its partnership with OMNIVISION, a leading global developer of semiconductor solutions, including advanced digital imaging, on the successful integration of Eyeris’ leading in-cabin monocular 3D sensing AI software with the OMNIVISION OAX4600 system-on-chip (SoC) platform and its OX05B1S 5 megapixel (MP) RGB-IR global shutter sensor.
The combined solution uses a single 2D image sensor with a dedicated NPU, integrated RGB-IR ISP, and the industry’s first depth-aware in-cabin monitoring AI software capabilities. In order to further enhance in-vehicle safety, comfort, and convenience, Eyeris and OMNIVISION’s integrated solution enables a powerful combination of vehicle interior monitoring performance, cost, and power efficiency in a form factor that allows it to be packaged into space-constrained areas of the vehicle.
Enhanced In-cabin Monitoring with Eyeris’ 3D Sensing AI
In response to the growing demand from automakers for in-cabin 3D sensing features, Eyeris has unveiled the first monocular 3D sensing AI in the world. All in-cabin features employ proprietary technology and cutting-edge deep neural networks to properly regress depth information with 3D output from 2D image sensors. For thorough in-cabin surveillance, Eyeris’ cutting-edge neural network models scan a vehicle’s interior and precisely forecast in three dimensions where occupants’ faces, bodies, hands, items, and everything else within the vehicle will be.
The Integrated Solution from Eyeris and OMNIVISION Provides Industry’s Best Performance with the Lowest Power Usage and Lowers Expense
Eyeris incorporated the OMNIVISION OAX4600 platform, a next-generation ASIC that employs OMNIVISION’s dedicated NPU with 2 Tera operations per second (TOPS) of performance, for effective inference. The OAX4600 provides a unique integrated method for decreased BOM cost and has the lowest power consumption of comparable devices on the market. It also features a 2GB stacked-RAM architecture. The most effective, optimum solution available to users is provided by the combination of cutting-edge ISP technology with Neural Network capabilities.
The OX05B1S 5MP RGB-IR image sensor from OMNIVISION, which delivers the industry’s top performance with 940 nm NIR sensitivity across all lighting situations for increased picture quality and analysis, was also incorporated by Eyeris as part of this combined solution. The accuracy of Eyeris’ portfolio of vision AI technology depends on the sophisticated image sensor’s broad field of view and sufficient pixel count to cover all regions of interest (ROIs) within the interior of the car, even small areas like the driver’s eyelids and pupils.
“There is a clear momentum for in-cabin 3D feature requirements, rather than 2D, from car OEMs demanding the use of a single RGB-IR image sensor but with the strict requirements for efficient inference on AI-enabled chips,” said Modar Alaoui, Founder and CEO at Eyeris. “The integrated solution we announce today with OMNIVISION sets a high bar in the industry for exceeding the satisfaction of these new requirements,” said Modar Alaoui, Founder and CEO at Eyeris.
“The powerful combination further enables feature-rich 3D monitoring with added cost and power efficiency advantages in a small form factor, which is always attractive to OEMs looking to differentiate with innovative in-cabin solutions,” Alaoui added.
“The OAX4600 is a state-of-the-art approach to Automotive monitoring. Combined with our OX05B1S 5MP RGB–IR global shutter sensor, and Eyeris’ advanced monocular 3D sensing AI implementation, we aim to achieve a wide market exposure and acceptance of Interior Monitoring Solutions.” said Michael Wu, Senior Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing at OMNIVISION.
