Illumio Inc., the Zero Trust Segmentation company, announced today that Brooks, one of the largest footwear brands, has selected Illumio Core to reduce its exposure to cyberattacks such as ransomware. Brooks uses the Illumio Zero Trust Segmentation (ZTS) platform to proactively prevent potential security breaches from propagating across the hybrid attack surface to strengthen enterprise resilience.
Brooks’ mission is to build great running shoes and gear so their customers can focus on one thing: running. To design and deliver exceptional running shoes, Brooks must keep it’s hybrid IT operational and secure. As Brooks continues to grow, it consistently puts the runner first and understands the importance of keeping its data secure, not only for its own operations but also for maintaining the integrity of its customer data.
The challenge is that cyber and ransomware attacks are on the rise as organizations become more interconnected and the attack surface widens. In fact, ESG found that 76 percent of companies have experienced a breach in the past two years. To counter growing risks, companies like Brooks are turning to Zero Trust Segmentation, a modern security approach that mitigates and minimizes the impact of security breaches.
Brooks uses Illumio Core to visualize all known and unknown communication and traffic between workflows, devices, and the internet on its network. It then uses this data to determine where to set granular segmentation policies to limit unnecessary and unwanted communications.
Unlike other security tools that often break applications, Brooks can test the impact of Illumio ZTS on its environment before going live with the controls. This gives the security team the confidence to deploy zero trust segmentation earlier across the enterprise’s hybrid IT, improving attack resilience faster and more efficiently. Because of this, research shows organizations can save up to $20 million per year with ZTS.
“Illumio is a strategic technology in our work to protect the company from ransomware, which is a top priority not only for my team but for the company as a whole. Ransomware attacks can have a major impact on retail brands – they can limit our uptime, disrupt operations and damage our customer trust,” said Ryan Fried, a senior security engineer at Brooks. “Illumio got Brooks up and running with a network-wide visualization of our risk. With Zero Trust Segmentation, we are able to automate and create segmentation policies that control unwanted communications and proactively contain potential data breaches to limit their impact on the business.”
“At a time when cyberattacks are a constant and daily occurrence, companies are looking for simple, reliable, and modern approaches to risk mitigation. Zero Trust segmentation isolates attacks so they can’t propagate across your hybrid attack surface, which drastically limits their impact,” said PJ Kirner, CTO and co-founder of Illumio. “As a large retailer, Brooks has a responsibility to both protect its customers’ privacy and keep its own operations running. At Illumio, we are proud to help Brooks fulfill its mission and foster customer trust by building the resilience of its entire network.”
