Veeam® Software, the leading provider of backup, recovery, and data management solutions for modern data protection, today announced that Brink’s Brazil has selected Veeam® Availability Suite™ to transform its approach to data protection and long-term data retention.
The Brink’s Company is the global leader in cash management, route-based secure logistics and payment solutions, ATM maintenance and international security transport services. The Brazilian business employs 10,000 people in 80 offices. Because these locations are spread across a vast geographic area and network connectivity can be variable, Brink’s Brazil faced challenges managing backups of critical data.
“Data underpins all of our operations, from transportation to logistics to payments,” said Caio Dalessi, IT infrastructure manager at Brink’s Brazil. “We previously relied on Veritas Backup Exec to perform daily backups to tape. This time and the resource-intensive process often exceeded our planned backup windows.”
Brink’s Brazil initially chose Veeam Backup & Replication™ and recently decided to extend the deployment to Veeam Availability Suite and add the comprehensive monitoring capabilities of Veeam ONE™. The company worked with SoftwareONE to replace its tape-based backups with Veeam software and high-performance disk arrays, speeding up backups of 500 virtual machines (VMs) containing TB of data. Thanks to Veeam, Brink’s Brazil now backs up its systems hourly instead of daily, minimizing the business impact of an outage.
The company has also strengthened its protection against cyber-attacks and increased backup efficiency. Next on the agenda is Brink’s Brazil, which will connect on-premises Veeam Backup & Replication archives to Amazon Web Services (AWS). The move will reduce the company’s long-term data retention cost and complexity.
“By combining Veeam and AWS technologies, we will eliminate the significant costs and hassles associated with purchasing tapes to store our long-term data archives, maintaining a secure warehouse to house the tapes, and transporting the tapes from our data centre connected to the warehouse. ‘ Dalessi said. “We’re excited to continue to innovate with Veeam by our side.”
